Sir William Burrell, Purchase Book 1950(1), p.54: ‘Early Chinese bronze wine vessel "Chia". One of the very rare forms of wine vessel, only 31 examples being noted in ancient Chinese records. Type dates from early part of Chou Dynasty (c.1122 BC). May be classified as Yin-Chou. It is not later that 10th-9th century BC. 9 1/2" high’. |
