Lady Assheton-Smith, a collector, may have been one of the three wives of Sir Charles Garden Assheton-Smith (1851-1914), 1st Bart., of Vaynol Park, Bangor, co. Carnarvon, or possibly the wife of a later baronet. Burrell’s Purchase Book for 1948 refers to her as the late Lady Assheton-Smith.
