Censer of porcelain. Made in China. Reign of Kangxi.

The latter showing groups of lotus, chrysanthemum & peony between bands of jui head lappets. The straight neck decorated with oblong panels of dragons on rouge de fer on a seed aubergine background. The handle with a boldly modelled dragon head covered with a yellow glaze. Kanghsi’.
Sir William Burrell, Purchase Book 1948(1), p.41: ‘An old Chinese porcelain jug for ceremonial purposes, decorated in brilliant famille verte enamels with panels of horses on seeded green ground. The latter showing groups of lotus, chrysanthemum and peony between bands of jui head lappets. The straight neck decorated with oblong panels of dragons, rouge de fer, on a seeded aubergine background. The handle with a boldly modelled dragon head covered with a yellow glaze. Kanghsi. Height 8 1/8", diam of base 4 5/8’.
