"Palace Bowl" painted both inside and on the outside [in underglaze blue] with a continuous floral band of hibiscus. Six character mark of Cheng Hua and of the period. Diameter: 5.7". From Later Chinese Ceramics from the Collections of Mr. & Mrs. Eugene Bernat, Bluett & Sons, 1974, no.5, colour plate A. The bowl is marked in the file as the property of Mrs. Elva Bernat. It was initially offered for sale at 125,000 but this was reduced to 90,000 on 17th July 1974. Details of its sale do not seem to have been recorded.
