You or wine vessel with swing handle in bronze. Made in China, 1st Phase, probably Shang Yin Dynasty.

Measurements:
13 x 11 1/4 in; mouth: 6 in x 4 7/8 in

Provenance:
Frank Partridge & Sons, dealer; from whom purchased by Sir William Burrell, 16 July 1938, 500; by whom gifted to the Corporation of the City of Glasgow, 1944.

Sir William Burrell, Purchase Book 1938 p.27: A Shang bronze Yu vessel, the handle supported at each side by a rams head with elliptical mouth, measuring 6" x 4 3/4" and modelled in high relief. Green patina. Height 13" incl handle, width 11 1/2".
