Bulb bowl of stoneware. Made in China, Ming Dynasty, early 16th century.

Measurements:
h: 3 3/4 in; mouth diam: 6 1/2 in; base: 4 3/8 in

Provenance:
Frank Partridge & Sons, dealer; from whom purchased by Sir William Burrell, 18 December 1950, £100; by whom gifted to the Corporation of the City of Glasgow, 1950.

Sir William Burrell, Purchase Book 1951, p.5: ‘Deep aubergine cloisonne ground Ming bowl modelled with flower sprays in turquoise and touches of white & brown. The interior of the bowl is covered in turquoise glaze. 4 1/4" high x 6 1/2"’.
